USE OF COLLECTED INFORMATION
The Disaster Hero game and website was developed by the American College of Emergency Physicians® (ACEP) with grant funds from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) / Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
We collect the following information from you (the "User") when you register to play Disaster Hero: User Name, Password, Grade Level, Age, and whether the User is a Parent, Teacher/Caregiver or Other and the User's state of residence ("Information"). We use this Information to provide statistical and/or demographic information for our own use and also to provide FEMA with statistics related to the use and effectiveness of Disaster Hero. Additionally, we ask the User to provide an email address to enable us to help reset a password and/or retrieve a lost or forgotten User name. Email addresses are only used for this single purpose.
We collect and use non-personally identifiable information such as the type of web browser in use in order to improve the design and content of our site and to enable us to improve the User's internet experience.
Users of the Disaster Hero game may email questions about the game and the website. (Customer service emails are sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.) Other than an email address, we do not request that users submit any personal information online for customer-service inquiries. We may, however, ask for additional non-personal information to better help us respond to customer service questions, e.g., hardware specifications. We use the email address to communicate directly with customers with technology-related questions, and provide them with answers they may find helpful. Once we have successfully solved the customer service issue, the email address is deleted from our system.
The American College of Emergency Physicians® is committed to complying fully with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998. We urge children and teens to always check with their parents or caregiver before entering Information on any website. We also urge parents and guardians to discuss with their children restrictions regarding the online release of personally identifiable information to anyone they don't know.
Users of the Disaster Hero game and website may participate in some activities without providing any personally identifiable information. However, if a User wants to participate in certain of our interactive features, we may ask him or her to register and/or provide us with the following types of information: Username, e-mail address, password, age information and state of residence. All registered Users must be at least thirteen (13) years old and/or obtain the permission of his or her parent/caregiver to use the site. If you would like to review any personally identifiable information that we may have collected online from your child, have this information deleted, and/or request that there be no further collection or use of your child's Information or if you have questions about these data collection practices, you may contact us at email@example.com.
USERS OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES
The Disaster Hero game and website are designed and targeted to Users who reside in the United States and is governed by and operated in accordance with the laws of the United States, and in particular, the laws of the State of Texas. ACEP makes no representation that this game and website are operated in accordance with the laws or regulations of, or governed by, another country.
YOUR CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS
Beginning on January 1, 2005, California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits our users who are California residents to request certain information regarding its disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
